Patient came with a broken amalgam restoration which have been filled more than 8 years ago. Although have a secondary caries underneath the existing amalgam, the caries does not extend to pulp, and he does not have any symptom from the tooth. Therefore, we proceed to restore the tooth with nanohybrid resin composite, which is aesthetic tooth-coloured filling material.
Materials & Method
Removed the existing amalgam under rubber dam.Carefully removed the secondary caries, leave the hard affected dentine in-situ.
Disinfect the cavity with Chlorhexidine gel.
Selective etched the enamel margin on occlusal.
Rinse and dry the cavity thoroughly.
Applied self-etched bonding agent, Optibond Versa from Kerr,USA.
Centripetal build up with nanohybrid composite, Herculite Precis from Kerr, USA
Stain fissure with ColorPlus from Kerr, USA.
Finishing & polishing.
